Weekly Art Sessions

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog:
I am so happy - winter is over and spring is here...it will be time to go to my cottage before I know it!

I have been in Florida for the last three months, so I  have not completed a lot of new artwork.  However, I am now starting some new projects, and I will be posting them soon.

In the meantime, I still have Lots of wonderful artwork completed by the girls in my art sessions last fall to show you.

This is a coloured pencil project (designed by Wendy Fahey), that was completed by Linda on 11x14 mi-teintes paper.  It is called Pansies under Par.  The flowers are beautiful, and, with coloured pencils, they take quite a bit of time to create.  Notice the outline of the golf shirt in the top right corner.  Linda has done a great job on this piece - love the colours.

I have posted this piece a few times, but, with pen and ink, every project turns out different.  This is called Let it Snow, and it was designed by Mary Owens.  This is the second time Marie has painted this project.  The original pattern calls for the sled to be painted a reddish brown, and when Marie did this a couple of years ago, she decided she would like the sled to be green.  It turned out so well, that everyone who has done the piece since then, has also painted the sled green.  As usual, Marie's project turned out wonderful.

Bev decided to do something different.  She chose a design by Doxie Keller, and then totally did her own thing.  The finished product looks nothing like the original pattern.  Bev started with texture on her canvas, then stippled the strips and basecoated her picture with acrylics.  She then used oils to add all the shading and highlights.  The final touch was adding the stencils and words with acrylics.  Looks great!

This is an oil painting done by Jackie.  The original design is by Sherry Nelson.  The background was created by Jackie, and, after watching her do it, I'm not sure even Jackie could recreate it!  The background turned out wonderful, but it did take some time and effort.  Everything on this project is done in oils, and I think Jackie did a terrific job.

In an earlier blog I stated  I would be teaching at Sisterhood Craft Supplies.  Final arrangements have now been made, and I will be teaching beginner courses in Pen and Ink with Oil Rouging and Coloured Pencils.  The following projects will be offered:

TREE'S COMPANY
Pen and Ink with Oil Rouging

This is a beginner project (designed by Mary Owens)...all the detail is traced on with a pen, the project is sprayed, then oil paint is rouged on to create the final picture.  Students will be working with a pattern, so anyone can complete this project - you do NOT have to be creative or have painting experience!.

CALLA LILIES
Coloured Pencils

This is a beginner project (designed by Janelle Johnson)...once again, students will be working with a pattern, so you will not be doing any part of the pattern freehand.  The project will be done on 8x10 mi-teintes paper.  Coloured pencils are fun...and it is amazing what you can accomplish by blending different colours together.

For further information regarding the above projects please contact:  Sisterhood Craft Supplies, 1035A Pembroke Street East, Pembroke...613-629-0029...sisterhood@nrtco.net.
I am really looking forward to the classes.  Pen and Ink is such a wonderful and easy technique to learn - it is so much fun to create all the detail and character of the piece by just using a pen.  And I love working with coloured pencils - there are 150 colours to choose from, and it is amazing the detail you can achieve by using the pencils...I particularly like using the pencils when I am working on birds and animals.

That's it for now - I still have more artwork completed by the 'art session' girls, which I will post over the next couple of months.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
