I have not posted anything on my blog in quite some time. The months of January, February and March were spent in Florida, and, although I tried very hard to sit down and paint, I seldom got around to it...way too much going on down there.
Anyway, I have managed to complete three pieces - all pen and ink with oil rouging, and I would like to share them with you. All three projects were done on 11x14 canvas.
This is another project designed by Claudia nice, and it can be found in her book Wings and Wildflowers...this book has been around for quite awhile, and, I believe it is now out of print. I found mine on either ebay or Amazon. This project also involved quite a bit of inking, and it can be a little tricky to get all the lines on the jar going in exactly the right direction. The rouging on the jar and leaves is quite minimal, but the roses have a considerable amount of colour added.
I did the above project by converting a coloured pencil pattern to pen and ink with oil rouging. The original pattern is designed by Tina Norris, and all her instructions are for coloured pencil. (Note: When I first received the pattern I completed the deer - on a suede background - in coloured pencils...if you would like to see that version please visit my 'Gallery' on the right hand side of this page, and click on Coloured Pencils). After finishing the coloured pencil version, I decided to try it in pen and ink with oils, and the above is the result. It was a little challenging, but I enjoyed it.
I have finally settled in after my trip to Florida, and I have a few projects I am working on - a couple of coloured pencils ones, and a couple of pen and ink pieces. I do plan to teach a few pen and ink projects at Sisterhood, and, if you are interested, please visit them at 1035A Pembroke Street East or call at 613 629-0029.
I am planning to hold my art sessions again in the fall, and I expect the girls to create some wonderful artwork, as they have done in the past. As soon as some are completed I will post them on my blog.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and have a wonderful day.
Joan
